Massage — The Perfect Gift for Any Reason-Treat Yourself or Someone You Love

Whether your feeling stressed or just want to enjoy the relaxation a massage can bring-to you (or to someone you care about), there is never a wrong time for a massage.

Today, modern medicine recognizes that rather than an indulgence, massage actually has physical, emotional and mental-health benefits.

Massage rejuvenates and heals our bodies and minds. It can help

  •  restore muscle tone
  •  increase blood circulation
  •  reduce muscle stiffness
  •  increase joint flexibility
  •  decrease stress levels

Do you have:

  • Neck pain?
  • Shoulder pain?
  • Back pain?

Are you:

  • Healthy, but a little stressed
  • A weekend warrior feeling the pain of the gain
  • Suffering from chronic pain
  • Suffering from an acute injury
  • Suffering from repetitive motions such as working on your computer, lifting things
  • Recovering from surgery
  • Interested in experiencing the benefits of massage for the first time

A Therapeutic Massage can:

  • Alleviate areas of pain such as low-back pain and restore range of motion
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, workouts
  • Improve skin condition and tone
  • Increase joint flexibility
  • Lessen depression and anxiety
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation
  • Reduce post-surgery adhesions and swelling
  • Reduce spasms and cramping
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles
  • Reduce pain by releasing endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller
  • Relieve migraine headache pain

Massage On Demand is a full-service massage practice.  We work with a variety of injuries: sports-related, motor vehicle accidents, and work-related. Weare also trained to help clients suffering from painful muscle conditions and chronic pain, and stress.

What Type of Massage Is Right for You

Swedish Massage is relaxing yet still therapeutic. It combines an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to improve circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue helps relieve severe tension in muscle and connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.

The term “deep tissue” is often confused with deep pressure. Deep tissue massage is used to treat particular muscular-skeletal disorders and complaints and employs a dedicated set of techniques and strokes to achieve a measure of relief. "Deep pressure” massage is performed with sustained strong, occasionally intense pressure throughout an entire full-body session, and that is not performed to address a specific complaint.

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor. We employ a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis. This enhances the body's natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. This technique involves deactivating these areas in the muscle that may cause local pain or refer pain in other parts of the body, such as headaches. These 'knots' build up over time due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied to release your trigger points.

Sports Massage Therapy utilizes specific strokes to help athletes obtain maximum performance and physical conditioning. While sports massage is beneficial when you are training for an event, it’s also helpful for anyone who stretches physical limits through movement. Swimmers, weight lifters, runners, golfers, ball players, skaters, dancers, tennis players, musicians, and boxers, as well as weekend warriors and those who practice strength training or aerobics, have benefited from sports massage. Sports massage focuses on specific muscles used in your sport or fitness activity. For example, areas of greater stress for runners and cyclists are the legs and lower back; for swimmers, the upper body.
